  28. Only registered users may 'part out' the program for their private use.

  30. You are allowed to examine the program and to pass it on to friends, 
  31. people, and BBS's, without fear of legal repercussions.  If you do
  32. pass it around remember this is shareware and encourage your friends
  33. to remember there is a £5 fee for registration.  Shareware is a means
  34. for software firms to distribute their software with no cost at all and
  35. the result is that there are no advertising costs to pass on to you the
  36. consumer, hence the stuff is cheaper.  Sadly the system is abused and
  37. people rarely pay for the goods, forcing the prices up.

  39. PD Libraries are allowed to pass it on but if it is good enough to 
  40. list they should purchase one copy if they exceed £15 profit from it.

  42. This product costs only £5.00 to register.  The cheapness
  43. of the product shouldn't mean that it was written in a weekend.

  45. I figure that with the amount of software piracy, why penalise the honest
  46. Joe.  Make the price small enough that unrich interested individuals can
  47. afford it.

  49. !Player in which the SampPlayer Module is a player which plays compressed
  50. Amadeus Sound Samples. !Compress compresses them to 50% of their original
  51. size whereas, !Spark would only give you a 10% savings. !Compress also
  52. uncompresses samples. The SampPlayer module IS NOT PD and must not be seperated
  53. from !Player or any of the !SayIt series.  David Radford has been kind
  54. enough to give special permission to us for this purpose, for which
  55. we are forever in his debt.

  57. !Player and !Compress are in the Public Domain, but are copyright
  58. of David Radford. Send me a disc and a stamp and Bits 'n' Bytes will
  59. send you these progams on disc free of charge.

  61. If you don't have a hard disc or you intend to use this
  62. across econet if you create a RAM disc of 800K and
  63. copy the program in it.  You will find that you have as
  64. close to true human speech as a computer can deliver.
  65.  
  66. This program pushes the now possible limits of the machine
  67. both with memory, disc space, and disc access.

  74. The computer is say a word.  You will have an indefinite period to choose
  75. of a four choices.
  76.  
  77. If you are right the computer will move on to another word, and praise you
  78. with a random response, and then move on to the next word.

  80. If you are wrong it will tell you you are wrong with a random phrase, and NOT 
  81. move on to the next word.

  83. There are two extra buttons on the screen one is will start a new session.

  85. The other will repeat the word so you can either get a better feel for the word
  86. or remind you if you have forgotten it.

  88. Above these two buttons is another smaller button which will make the foreign 
  89. word dissapear so that you can not have any clues to the meaning of the word other
  90. than the sound.

  92. The scoreboard reads correct, wrong, attempts, and percentage. You should acheive
  93. above 70% at all times. In the USA this is considered a 'C' (average) and 69% 
  94. would be considered a 'C-' (below average).

  96. The entire screen is in your language to give you a feel for working in that
  97. language.  The top of the screen reads "What is the ____________ (<--Language)
  98. translation for:"

  100. The iconbar menu is straight forward except for the middle choice when, if ticked,
  101. whill direct all of !SayIt's sound to the headphone socket only for classroom or
  102. late night study.

  106. You are advised that because all version of !SayIt set a system variable called
  107. SayItQuiz$Dir, you MUST NOT run say the french and german together! This may
  108. crash your entire desktop. I will fix this in the near furture, but I haven't
  109. seen it as that big of a problem yet.

  111. I have purchased talk tapes in the past where you think the person speaking sure has 
  112. and english accent.
  113.  
  114. I assure you that all speakers to !SayIt are native to that language, and that
  115. the language they speak is their mother tongue.  I have been assured that 
  116. they have no speech impediments and speak a 'main stream' dialect of that
  117. language (ie for english you will not have someone with a southern USA drawl).
